 1990 Secondary School

The year was 1990. I was now officially in secondary school. I was automatically enrolled in SMK Methodist (ACS) Melaka. One week before the first day of school, every student and their parents were invited to the school's Orientation Program for Form One. At that time, I had just received my UPSR( Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah) results. I scored straight As in all the five subjects. About twelve of us out of about forty students in my class managed to obtain this flying colours. I think we broke the school record for the number of 5As in a year. Some of my friends fell short of one A and got only 4As and a B.

During my time in Form 1, the Principal that time was Mr Chong Teng Wan. He was a small-built man but quite strict in handling his duties in the school. He was the Principal in my school from when I was in Form 1 till he left after I got my SRP (Sijil Rendah Pelajaran) results at the end of 1992. I was the top student for the SRP examination of 1992. i scored 8As. I decided to join Science stream in Form4. This was a typical choice especially if you are one of the top students. We had a class of about thirty students in 4M. Our Form Teacher was Mrs Fong. She also taught us Chemistry and Modern Mathematics.

Going back to before 1990. I was very excited about Form 1 because a couple of months before; I heard a news on television that every student in Form 1 would be provided with a computer in class. I was amazed because I had never had the privilege of using a computer for studies as we usually use it for playing games. However, the government's plan did not materialise and we were stucked with heavy school bags. Haha.
